weigh in day 30

Day 30. Weigh in time. When I started this blog I weighed 345 pounds. On day 30 I weigh 317 pounds. That’s 28 pounds in thirty days. I couldn’t be happier with my results. It’s been a lot of hard work and it’s going to be a lot more hard work to reach my goal. The next 30 days will be critical. It’s my opinion that the first 20 pounds comes off easily. It’s the next 20 that is the hardest.
I seriously doubt I will be able to keep up this pace but, I’m going to do my best. My diet could be a little stricter but, again, I’m only human, and I love food, so, it is what it is. My will power is good and I have firm grip on my goal, which is to be 260 pounds.
I plan on turning up the weight training next month. I have always been told muscle outweighs fat 2 to 1 so I expect my weight loss to slow down a bit. My monthly weight loss goal will be 18 pounds a month from here on out. I have to give props to my gym, healthsport. They have a great selection of cardio and weight lifting equipment. I have a real flexible work schedule that allows me to hit the gym all the time. For that I am happy.
Thanks to those who are following me on my journey. The reason I started this blog was to put pressure on myself to perform. Up to this point everything is going as planned. Stay tuned for more of what’s to come.

ennd of push week, week 4

I’m a little over half way during push week. Everything is going well, better than expected. I was hoping to finish my weight training for the week today but, after rolling out of bed I see that’s not going to happen. Friday morning I start with some peanut butter toast and some 2% chocolate milk for breakfast.
I hit the gym for the normal 20/20/20 minute split on the cardio machines. My legs feel good so, I turn up the heat with my speeds. I feel good when I finish today. Lunch was 2 left over pieces of cheese pizza and 2 hot wings. I usually feel like a snack around 5 pm but, today I’m holding off.
I go back to the gym in the evening. 20 minutes on the treadmill and then it’s over to the arc trainer for another 20. I hit the pool and do some swimming tonight also. Dinner was beef stir fry with carrots and broccoli and asparagus.
Saturday morning started with peanut butter toast for breakfast. I head to the gym and do a 20 minute session on the treadmill and finish up my weight training for the week. I’m working back and shoulders today. My workout takes a lot out of me so; I only do 10 more minutes of cardio on the arc trainer. I eat some left over stir fry for lunch and pretty much relax for the rest of the day. Snack time was chips and salsa and dinner ended up being baked chicken with carrots and zucchini. Desert was ice creamJ.
I wake up Sunday morning, last day off push week. I need to go hard today before weigh in tomorrow morning. I’m just doing cardio today so it’s the normal 20/20/20 split. I head home and have organic Mac and cheese for lunch along with some pizza rolls. Dinner was a chicken stir fry….I know right, stir fry’s?
Sunday evening I head to healthsport . I hit the treadmill for 20 minutes and then it’s over to the arc trainer for 20 more. I hit the pool doing some laps. My swimming cardio is not where I would like it yet but, I got time to work on it. Push week ended up being a success. I was able to make it to the gym 12 times this week for what I estimate to be somewhere between 5800 to 6000 calories burned. We’ll see how much it pays off tomorrow morning at the weigh in.

mid week 4 push week

Wednesday was another great workout day. I started with a peanut butter English muffin and some 2% chocolate milk and it’s off to the gym I go. 20 minutes on the treadmill and I’m over to the weights. I’m working my biceps and trap muscles today. 12 sets of 12 reps for each body part is my preferred method.
I go back to the cardio side of the gym. I do 20 minutes on the elliptical and then 20 minutes on the arc trainer. I set a good pace today. I’m happy with that workout so, I hit the shower and head home. For lunch I ate a grilled chicken sandwich with bacon.
I’m feeling good Wednesday evening so, I decide to head back to the gym. I do 20 more minutes on the treadmill. I turn up the speed to 3.5 mph and 9.0% grade. It was a little tougher than I thought it would be. But, I push through it and I head over to the arc trainer for another 20 minute session. Dinner was baked fish with asparagus and carrots.
Breakfast on Thursday was peanut butter whole wheat toast and yogurt. Thursday morning I just do cardio. I’ll finish my weight training on Friday. I start with the usual 20 minutes on the treadmill. Then it’s on to the elliptical for 20 minutes. I finish strong on the arc trainer and then hit the shower.
My legs are pretty fatigued today so, I skip my evening session of cardio. I want to give my legs some recovery time. For dinner I ate cheese pizza. 3 slices. I also have a glass of lemonade…with vodkaJ. I’m looking to get a good night’s rest and back at it hard tomorrow morning and evening.
3 days left until weigh in. I need to finish this week strong.

beginningof week 4 PUSH WEEK!!

I rolled out of bed feeling good and energized Monday morning. My breakfast was yogurt and a peanut butter English muffin. I got to the gym around the usual time. Started on the treadmill, 20 hard minutes get’s my blood pumping. I’m lifting today, working my chest and triceps. I do 12 sets of 12 reps for each body part. Last week I tore myself up so, it should be interesting to see how I feel tomorrow.
Then I’m back to the cardio equipment. 20 hard minutes on the elliptical machine and then over to the arc trainer. Another 20 minutes on that machine, the last 2 minutes I go as hard as I can and it feels good. Cardio started a little rough today, I guess that’s what I get for taking a day off. I’m in the shower and I head home.
Lunch was some organic soup, good stuff but, loaded with salt. I just don’t understand why they load everything with salt. I hate it. I have a late afternoon snack of yogurt and chips and salsa. I feel my muscles tightening.
I head back to the gym. I’m considering this week push week so; I’m going to work my ass off this week. Weigh in is Monday so, there’s a lot on the line. 15 minutes on the elliptical, then 15 on the arc trainer. It feels good tonight, I like it. I hit the hot tub and then the shower. I ate a serving of stove top with some chicken mixed in for dinner.
Tuesday morning, my muscles feel much better this week than last week. I’m stoked about it. Breakfast was yogurt and peanut butter whole wheat toast. Off to the gym I go! I’m just doing cardio today the normal 60 minute routine.20/20/20 split and I’m out. For lunch I had a salad, I loaded it up pretty good. I also ate some baked fish.
Then it’s back to the gym in the evening. Busy in healthsport tonight. I start on the arc trainer. I make it to 20 minutes fairly easily. I feel great about this. I hit the treadmill for another 20 minutes. I turned up the grade to 8.0% but, I could only do 3 mph comfortably.
Dinner was a steak taco that I made at home along with some mashed potatoes. I feel great about my progress this week. After all it is push week with weigh in coming next Monday. I think I’ll be happy with whatever the scale says because I’m feeling so good. My heart is doing well. I push myself but try to do it carefully.

Processed Meats Declared Too Dangerous for Human Consumption

Processed Meats Declared Too Dangerous for Human Consumption

end of week 3

Thursday was a good day at the gym. Woke up at around 8:30 and ate an English muffin with peanut butter for breakfast and then I hit the gym around ten. No sense of getting there too early because I’ll have to wait to use a machine. I do the normal 60 minute cardio program. Still no weight lifting for me, soreness is going away but, it’s still there!
Lunch was more cheese pizza. After reading some scary facebook post about the connection between cancer and processed foods I have to now cut out the sandwiches. This is going to be tough for me. But, it was a pretty eye opening article and I think it makes sense to lay off as much processed foods as I can. Dinner was organic Mac and cheese. Taste all right I guess.
I wake up Friday morning feeling good and energized. I throw some cereal down my throat with a cut up banana in it and I’m off to the gym. Cardio routine, 60 minutes and I’m out. I had a salad for lunch. I love mushrooms so I put a bunch of those on my salad. Tiny bit of shredded cheese and some low cal balsamic dressing. I ate dinner a little earlier than usual so; I could go back to the gym. Dinner was another salad, this time with ranch and a few more trimmings. I also had 2 hot wings.
Around 6 pm I headed back to the gym. I do 15 minutes on the tread mill, 8.0% grade and 3.2 mph. another 15 minutes on the arc trainer and then I’m off to the pool. I can tell my cardio is getting better because swimming is becoming easier to me. I’m able to swim a lot further. Shower up and head home.
Saturday, was another banana and cereal breakfast. I did finish my weight program for the week by working my back and shoulders. I went at a good pace, the workout felt really good. 30 minutes of cardio today. Lunch was some yogurt and chips and salsa and dinner was baked chicken with rice and broccoli. I had a brownie for desert. Brownie? Hell yah, its Saturday….
Sunday was another day of rest for me. Breakfast was yogurt with an English muffin. Dinner was chicken and squash. I feel it was a good week of progress. Really wish I would have done cardio today but, I’ll be back at it hard next week. Getting closer to my first official weigh in. it will be February 3rd. I have a few more days to push hard and finish the month strong.
