end of week 10

I had a few errands to run on Wednesday when I woke up and also knew I was heading to a show this evening so, I am only making it to the gym once today. We stopped for lunch and I ate some baked fish along with a salad and a chicken taco. Errands are done and my belly is full so, I head to the gym.
I am working my biceps and trap muscles today along with the normal 60 minutes of cardio. First I start with 20 minutes on the treadmill and then head over to the weights. I finish up my weight routine and move on to finish up my cardio routine. I hit the shower and then I’m out of there.
When I got home from the gym I decided to eat a salad around mid afternoon. I’ve been doing my best to eat lots of salad and to eat a lot of carrots and broccoli raw. I’m excited to go to this show tonight, it should be fun. A Michigan group called greensky bluegrass. We met up with some friends at the spot where the concert is going down and decided to have dinner. My dinner ended up being a green salad and a grass fed cheese burger with a giant portabella mushroom on top. It was definitely one of the top 5 burgers I have ever eaten. Thank you Humboldt brewing company for that. I had a few drinks during the show and also smoked a little bit. The show was as good as I expected it to be.
When I woke up on Thursday morning I felt absolutely horrible. I must have picked up some sickness from somebody at that show. I could not get out of bed at all on Thursday. I did not eat anything on Thursday and pretty much slept on and off all day and night. I have not been this sick in many years.
I was hoping that when I woke up on Friday I would feel good enough to go to the gym but, it didn’t happen. For the second straight week I was going to miss 2 days in a row of workouts. I’m not happy about it but, what can I do really? Just rest and try to get better. Friday I was able to eat a little bit throughout the day. I had 2 eggs with toast and also a little bit of spaghetti in the evening. I’ve been taking lots of vitamins and some other natural remedies to try and get better. It is starting to work.
Saturday morning I woke with the plan on hitting the gym no matter how I felt. I started the day off with some special k cereal for breakfast with 2% milk. I still felt like shit but, no way was I taking 3 days off from the gym. My cardio workout was tough but, I soldiered through it and did all 60 minutes. When I made it home I cooked up a chicken breast and put it on top of another fantastic salad.
Evening time came and I was bored so, I said, to hell with it, I’ll go back to the gym, so I did. Just a 40 minute cardio session and I’m out. I headed home for dinner which I had a small amount of roast beef and some peanut butter toast with all natural peanut butter and some good for you toast. Smoked a little bit and then hit the sack.
I woke up Sunday still felling rough. I was hoping to be feeling better than this by now. I eat some cereal for breakfast and then head to the gym. It’s another 60 minute cardio session and I’m out. I ate a roast beef sandwich for lunch and had a tuna filet with a baked potato and steamed broccoli for dinner.
It’s kind of crazy to think that making it to the gym 8 times this week and 8 times last week that I feel a little bit disappointed. I’ve been at a 12 times a week pace for weeks now. But, the fact of the matter is, I could not control any of the circumstances I was placed in. so, all I can do is bounce back and use it as motivation.
I’ve been real happy with my level of smoking. I have had some real good self control. Wednesday night was also the only night I drank alcohol this week and I’m happy about that. Something else I’m stoked about is that I have not had any chewing tobacco in 7 days. This is an addiction that I have battled since I was 12 years old. I am not saying that I’ve won yet but, it’s a hell of a start.

beginning of week 10

Well, after a crazy finish to week number 9, I sure am happy to be moving on to week 10. One thing that being in the hospital allowed me to do was read a bunch of good stuff about foods and their affects. So, that being said, I know I need to be stricter on my diet to truly get the results that I am searching for. That is my focus on month 3.
Monday morning I started with some organic cereal that taste more like tree bark than anything I have ever eaten in my whole life. It was all right though, I mean, I still threw it down without any issues. Then it’s off to the gym for some cardio and weight lifting. I began with 20 minutes on the treadmill. I turned up the speed to 3.5 mph and the grade to 10%. I feel that my body must be getting used to the cardio I have been doing so, I need to turn up the heat and work a little harder than in the previous 2 months. I get a good sweat rolling and head over to the weights side of the gym. I’m working my chest and triceps today. Another great weights routine and then it’s back to finish up my morning cardio. A 20 minute session on the arc trainer as fast as I can and then it’s on to the rowing machine for another fast paced 20 minutes.
I head home and enjoy a nice orange juice and mango smoothie along with a banana. When dinner rolled around we ended up having spaghetti and carrots and peas. I decided to head back to healthsport in the evening. I’m there for just a quick 40 minute cardio session and then I’m out. When I got home I made myself a salad. It was romaine with carrots and broccoli along with crimini mushrooms and a little cheese and some low cal raspberry vinaigrette. I’m really trying to focus on eating more raw veggies this month so; I see lots of salads in my future.
Tuesday morning for breakfast I eat another delicious bowl of tree bark cereal. Then I’m off to the gym. I’m just doing cardio today. It’s the normal 20/20/20 minute split then I’m home for lunch. Which, ended up being another fantastic salad the same as last night. Also, a vegetarian BLT sandwich. It was pretty good actually, whatever the hell it was.  It was some kind of bacon substitute, I don’t know. I had an apple and some yogurt before I headed back to the gym in the evening. I decided to switch it up tonight on the cardio. I did start off with the treadmill but moved over to the stepmill after that. If you’re not familiar with the stepmill it’s basically just a bunch of steps that continually rotates until you can’t take it anymore. Nice piece of equipment though. I definitely see myself using that thing a lot more In the future. For dinner I ate some koos koos and one more salad along with an all organic un processed beef hot dog.
It’s been a good start to the week. After receiving a clean bill of health I am super stoked about the way things have gone so far. I have made huge strides in only 2 months of solid working out. I feel this is going to be a critical month and I plan on making the most out of it.

day 60 pics and the rest too.

day 60 weigh in

I go to the gym today to have my 60 (62) day weigh in. when I began this journey I weighed in the first day at 345 ponds. I am now down to 305 pounds in sixty days. My weight loss was only 12 pounds on month number 2. I not disappointed with month 2‘s weight loss but, I am a little surprised. I was expecting it to be a little more. I was hoping to drop below the 300 pound mark today.
That being said, overall in 60 days I’m happy be down 40 pounds. In my second month I began weight training so, I figure I put on some muscle weight and continued to lose fat. I don’t know if 2 days in the hospital with I.V.’s stuck in my arm played a roll or not.
As I reflect on these 2 months I see that I can make room for improvement on my diet. It pretty much is the final key to my success. The workouts are still going great as is the cardio training. The more knowledge I receive from studying about the foods that we eat the more I realize the need for eating raw veggies and low sugar fruits.
As I rage on in month number 3 I look forward to the challenge of beating the 12 pounds lost in month number 2. I couldn’t be happier about all the good news from the hospital after my entire test. Lowering my blood pressure and getting my heart to pump normally again has been accomplished. Now it’s on to phase 2 of my plan. To become in the best personal shape I have ever been in.

mid week 9

Wednesday morning started out with some chex cereal and 2% milk for breakfast. Then it’s off to the gym for some cardio and weight training. I’m working my biceps and trap muscles today. But, first it’s 20 minutes on the treadmill. Then I head over to the weights. My workout is strong today because I was able to increase the weight on everything. I finish off my morning workout with 20 minutes on the arc trainer. Then its home for lunch which was left over chicken stir fry.
Dinner time I ate an organic chicken burrito and enjoyed some chips and salsa. I decide to head back to the gym. Not sure what I did to my knee yesterday but, it’s feeling good today. I do a 60 minute cardio session in the evening and then head home for some rest.
Wednesday night I took my heart and blood pressure meds just before I went to bed. Just as I just finished up brushing my teeth and washing out my mouth I leaned up and passed out. I blasted my skull on the door knob on the way down. Pandemonium struck the house when everyone heard me hit the deck. It must of sounded like a tree falling down I’m sure.
After I woke up I came out of the bathroom. Jenni said I was out for about 30 to 60 seconds. No one could get in the bathroom to help me because I was passed out in front of the door. So, we decided to go to the hospital to get me checked out. I figured that it was the meds that made me pass out and the doctors seem to agree with me. I’m taking the same dose as when I first got out of the hospital.
Since I’ve been working out so hard it seems as though I have lowered my blood pressure enough on my own to reduce my meds. Taking the full doses dropped my blood pressure too much and that is what caused me to pass out. I had a ct scan and an EKG while at the hospital. All test came back as negative and it actually appears that my heart is back to pumping normally. I did not have a concussion either from blasting the door knob. Thank you hard ass Adkins skull for taking the shot.
The doctors decided that I should stay for another day to monitor my vital signs. Everything checked out and I was released early Friday morning. As much as it sucked to be stuck in the hospital I am happy to get all the good news about my heart and blood pressure. I can resume my normal life.
I missed out on the gym for Thursday obviously but, plan on continuing my workouts just as I have been. I’m not on any kind of restrictions or anything and my new doses of medicine are half of what they were. All in all I’m happy to be alive. My weigh in will have to be tomorrow, a couple days late but, what the hell huh?

begining of week 9

Monday morning I wake up with a few errands to run. By the time I complete my running around its lunchtime. For lunch I had a turkey sandwich with bacon and guacamole and a salad with low calorie raspberry vinaigrette. Then I head to the gym, it’s chest and triceps day today. I start off with 20 minutes on the treadmill and then it’s over to the weights for a good hard weight lifting session. I finish up the weights and then head over to the arc trainer for 20 minutes to finish off my cardio routine for the morning.
For dinner I ate a chicken stir fry and head back to the gym. I do the normal 60 minutes of cardio and then it’s out the door for a little gathering of Michiganders at the bar my girlfriend works at. I ended up drinking around 6 beers tonight. I got a pretty good buzz on. However, unlike the last time I got a little crazy, I make better decisions and leave the smoking out of the evening. I also was able to control my appetite and didn’t stuff my face with any food tonight.
I woke up Tuesday morning moving a little bit slow, which I expected from a night of drinking. I eat a bowl of cheerios with 2% milk and head to the gym for some cardio action. It’s a 60 minute routine this morning and then I’m out of there.
Lunchtime ended up being some baked fish and a salad. I must have tweaked my knee or something this morning. I feel it would probably be best to skip my night session at healthsport this evening. For dinner I ate some mash potatoes and a chicken taco and snack on some unsalted peanuts later that evening. I sure hope my knee is feeling good in the morning. I only have one more work out day before the next weigh in. stayed tuned for my Thursday blogs. I will be doing 2 of them. One for the weigh in and one for a midweek update.
